A new father is always confused about how he can bond with his new born; what is the right thing to do, what are the best ways through which the baby feels secure and comfortable with him as much as with the mother are a couple of things running on his mind. Here are a few tips that are easy and effective:
1. Hold your baby:
Don’t be afraid of not knowing how to hold your baby. Your baby needs to be held by you as much as they need to be held by their mother.
2. Feed your baby:
Yes, as fathers you can feed your baby with a bottle, of course, but try feeding them the way a mother would, holding them close to their chest, as this lets the baby look you in the eye and bond with you.
3. Be silly:
Bond with your new born while you play silly with them; make funny faces, have a screaming competition or a staring competition with your little bundle of joy.
4. Routine Time:
Be a part of their bath routine or their bedtime routine. This way even the baby looks forward to the quality time that you will spend with them.
5. Walk with baby:
Taking your baby for a walk either in a stroller or in a baby carrier is very essential as it helps the baby explore different views and objects. It also gives you and your baby to bond over the things you would want them to see such as the purple flowers on a tree and the birds in the sky.
6. Daddy Duty:
Make sure you take charge when your baby falls ill so that they know you are there for them. Take out time to visit the doctor to know how your baby is developing and what u can do to help them grow more.
7. Sing to your baby:
Your baby finds comfort in hearing your voice. Sing to them while you hold them close to your chest or read a story to them. This helps the baby to recognize your voice which helps the baby to bond with you.
A relationship with your new baby is very rewarding. This relationship will only continue to grow throughout their lives. It is okay if it doesn’t come naturally at first. For your baby you will always be the best dad!
