Congratulations! Your baby has completed two months now. The biggest reward you can get this month is receiving that first gorgeous smile from your baby. Get ready to capture that precious moment.
Your efforts are likely to get rewarded this month with a delightful, toothless smile from your little one. This will be among the most heart-warming milestones for your baby. Till now you have been responsibly doing all your duties from changing his/her nappy to bathing him and to your surprise, you will find him smiling at you one day. You can encourage him to smile by making funny faces at him and making noises. He/she may also start trying to imitate you.
He/she has now started to go beyond his/her early colour preferences. His/her preferences will now shift to multi-coloured objects, shapes and designs from single-colour objects.
Initially, your baby might still wake up at night to be fed, which will hamper your sleep. But gradually, he/she will start to sleep for longer periods.
By now, your newborn will be coordinating his/her movements better. He/she will love toys dangling just above him/her and he/she may even gaze at them. He/she also can attempt to bat at them with a closed fist and move his/her arms and legs to show his/her delight.
Your baby will need to have a check-up at six weeks to eight weeks to make sure he/she is developing well and healthy. These check-ups are quite similar to the newborn tests your baby had during his/her first week of birth. This will include the measurement of his/her weight, length and head circumference, checking of baby’s hips, heart and genitals. Also, the doctor will ask you about your baby’s feeding habit.
This is the time your baby is supposed to get immunised against various diseases. Immunisation for prevention of tetanus, polio, rotavirus, meningitis etc. will be given to your baby.
