By the beginning of the second trimester, you are probably ready to begin getting the home ready for the baby. Apart from you and your partner the family too will be excited to help you in getting the perfect home ready for the baby. You can ask for help from the family not only when shopping for the baby or choosing décor etcetera but also for cleaning up the house and organizing closets and various other necessary but unexciting work that need to be done. Not only does the sharing of the work make the work lighter for all, it will make the family members feel involved in the life of the new baby even before it is born.
The end of the second trimester is probably the time when you will need to decide on the hospital and make a birth plan. When choosing the hospital research all the amenities that are available at the hospital, try and talk to someone who has actually given birth there as the truest picture can be had from them. If no one in your family has been there, someone from the extended family is sure to know someone who has.
You may want to have some other family member along with your partner with you during labour for extra support. It could be your mother, mother-in-law or even your best friend. Have them accompany you for the visit to the doctors and also get them to familiarise themselves with the birth plan and procedures to follow during labour and in case of emergencies. Confirm from the hospital how many people are allowed in the birthing room.
Having family around you during pregnancy can help you by keeping you calm and distracting from the fears that all new mothers have. Older and experienced ladies are able to soothe any concerns that you may have and younger members are always ready to help and are excited to welcome baby home.
