If you know why your baby is fussing, it is a lot easier for you to calm her. You know exactly what she wants and you fulfill her need and this usually works. But there are also other ways to soothe a crying baby. Babies love entertainment – play with them, talk to them and this diverts their attention from crying. In no time you will find your baby laughing instead.
Your baby loves to listen to your voice so, talk to her, or rather sing to her when she is fussing. Sometimes your voice magically soothes your baby. You can also play soft music.
Sometimes walking the baby may also help. The baby enjoys the movement and stops crying. You can also go to a nearby park or just walk with the baby in front of your house for a change.
Wrapping your baby in a thin blanket with her arms across her chest is called swaddling. This calms the baby’s senses because it gives them a womb-like feeling. Do not over feed your baby; check your baby’s tummy to make sure that she is not overfed. If she feels uneasy after a feed it is difficult to calm her down.
You can opt to install a baby swing and use it as a pacifier. A rocking chair is also an option. Another easy way of calming a fussy baby is to give massage. Babies also need massage to relax their muscles and often they cry due to uneasiness. Massaging your baby helps at these times.
For new parents it may be a bit frustrating in the beginning because babies cry a lot. Be patient and don’t worry, you will find ways to soothe your baby. And as you get to know your baby better the going will get easier.
