Here are some of the symptoms of the second trimester:
Feeling hungrier than usual is completely normal; food cravings and also food aversions are a very common symptom during pregnancy. Eat healthy, drink healthy and also do not forget to drink plenty of water throughout the day.
During pregnancy, your ankles and feet tend to swell when body fluids increase to nourish both you and your babies. These fluids accumulate in your tissues as a result of increased blood flow and pressure of your growing uterus on the pelvic veins. This causes swollen ankles and feet, and also you may notice that your hands appear swollen.
As you are carrying two babies, your belly is going to grow a lot bigger than you can imagine. One of the most common problems that women face is that of stretch marks also known by dermatologists as striae gravidarum. Stretch marks commonly appear during the rapid growth period of your babies inside your belly. This happens when the elastic middle layer of your skin called dermis is stretched out and becomes damaged, leaving scars. Stretch marks can also appear on your hips, thighs, breasts, lower back, upper arms and buttocks.
It is common to get varicose veins during twin pregnancy. Pregnancy hormones may cause the walls of your veins to weaken and swell. Your growing uterus exerts pressure on your veins which in turn slows blood circulation, making the smaller veins in your pelvis and legs swell. You are most likely to get these bluish, swollen veins in your legs.
Varicose veins will probably disappear after your babies are born, when pressure on your veins goes away.
You gain weight in the second trimester and your baby bump starts showing gradually. Because of this weight gain, a lot of pressure is exerted on your spinal cord which results in lower back pain. Pregnancy cause posture change and the new posture that you walk, stand or sit in may be a reason for your backache. Another reason can be emotional stress; stress causes muscle tension.
Try to sleep on your side and support your back pillows and place a pillow in between your legs. Try improving your posture and do not take stress; when in stress talk to someone reliable. You can take a hot bag or ice bag to relax your back muscles.
