It is not known exactly why some boys are born with undescended testicles. Premature birth (before the 37th week of pregnancy), low birth weight and having a family history of undescended testicles increase the chance of a boy born with undescended testicles.
There are two ways to fix the problem.
- Surgery: A minor surgery can correct the physical abnormality.
- Hormone therapy: A hormone is administered to stimulate the maturation of the testicles so that the tests can make more testosterone thus making the testicles jump-start their downward migration over the course of several weeks.
