Becoming a Father is the most joyful and happiest period in your life but at the same time it can be challenging and overwhelming, especially in the beginning. This Father’s Day, we help you with a few tips that you can use that would make you better prepared for this journey of parenthood.
Nappy Change: Your baby needs a Nappy (or Diaper) change often to prevent sore skin and diaper rash. For a newborn this could be several times throughout the day and night.
# Step 1: Before you begin the nappy change, keep everything required ready (bed protector/rubber sheet, fresh diaper, wipes, rash cream, garbage bag, fresh clothes, toy etc.)
# Step 2: Place the child on the bed protector/rubber sheet and remove the child’s bottom wear/clothing. Give your child the toy so that (s)he is distracted. Alternatively you (along with your spouse) can decide a diaper time story or song, which your child will get used to.
# Step 3: Remove the diaper and Wipe your child’s bottom clean with wet wipes.
# Step 4: Apply diaper rash cream (as suggested by your doctor or if required) in the areas exposed to diaper
# Step 5: Slightly lift your baby’s bottom and place the fresh diaper underneath. Fasten the diaper locks around your baby’s waist and ensure the diaper fits your baby snugly and not too tight or loose.
# Step 6: Put on the bottom wear/clothing back on your baby (fresh ones if the current ones are soiled) and it is done. Don’t forget to wash your hands with soap or you may choose to use a sanitizer.
